Mr. S.K Awunyo-Akaba
Since Future Generations International’s (FUGI) inception in 1995, he has been the Operations, Administrative & Programs Director. He holds a Master’s Degree in Development Planning from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (1966-1968) and a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Hons.) in Geography from the University of Ghana, Legon (1966).
He later acquired a Post Graduate Diploma in Regional Development Planning from the Development Studies Centre, Rehovot, Israel (1972/ 1973) and a Post Graduate Certificate Supporting Systems for Agric Production CINADCO, Ruppin, Israel (1989).
He was a Consultant for the European Union-Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (EU-MLGRD) Human Resources Development Project for the Training of District Assembly Members in the respective districts; Kpando, Hohoe, Jasikan, Kadjebi, Nkwata and Krachi (2001-2002).
He served for many years as an Assembly Member for Cape Coast Municipal Council and Ho Municipal Assembly as Chairman for the Economic Development Committee (1982-1987), and Chairman for the Development Planning Committee respectively (1994-2001).
He again Consulted for the Ghana Ministry of Education Service by the Evaluation of The Three Northern Regions of Ghana’s implementation of its OPEC FUND Programs, 1994.
S.K Awunyo-Akaba worked in his early years as a former Regional Planning Officer for the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning for the Volta Region in 1969-1974. He then became a Research fellow at the Centre for Development Studies, University of Cape Coast from 1974 to 1991, and then joined the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Cape Coast from 1978 to 1980.
Mr. Stephen Kwami Awunyo-Akaba has over 40 years of experience at the grass root levels as well as the Regional and National levels.
His love and concern for the wellbeing of children urges him to facilitate for the advocacy and establishment of ISFUND as a means of reaching children in difficult-to-reach communities for Sustainable Quality Vaccines for Immunizations.
